The Cambrian Center is a two-building senior housing complex in San Jose — a 7-story building with 141 units and a single story building with 12 units. The project consists of a complete renovation of all 153 housing units and common areas in both buildings. The interior renovation includes ADA enhancements at all units and the total reconstruction of 25 units to make them fully ADA accessible.
Additional work includes complete replacement of the heating and plumbing systems, new solar thermal, replacement of two existing hydralic elevators with two new Machine Roomless traction elevators, and fire sprinkler system upgrades including a new system at the 12‑unit single story building. Seismic upgrades include shotcrete overlays at existing concrete shear walls, new footings, and steel seismic bracing. Site improvements include ADA parking, accessible walkways, new landscaping, and a community garden.
